Where To Begin Planning Your Wedding

Deciding that you and your loved one are ready to make a commitment and get married is one of the most exciting decisions in life – but the thought of having a wedding can be one of the most daunting.

From the venue and catering to the photographer, the guest list, the play list, band or no band, providing for dietary requirements – the list goes on.

Where to begin?

My advice is to begin at the start – the two of you. Before everything else, make a promise to yourselves that you will create the day that you want to have.

Want to get married on top of a mountain? By a lake? At the beach or in the backyard? It’s your day – so no request is too out there to be ignored.

Talking with a celebrant is sometimes the best place to start – after all, the most important part of the wedding is the commitment you are making to each other. As a marriage celebrant I can offer advice about the style and length of ceremony you want to have, how and where to include special elements that will make your ceremony unique to you, and importantly, understanding that your wedding day is simply the first day of your married life.
